Fallenstar trotted silently into the area, and then sat to wait for Riverfoot. She curled her tail around her paws, and looked up to the sky. She smiled as she remembered her lessons with Lilywhisper - the old deputy had not officially been her mentor, but she may as well have been. Stop thinking of the past, focus on now. Fallenstar lifted her nose to scent for prey, and was pleasantly surprised when there were plenty of fresh scents. Perhaps, some surprises, she did like in the morning.

The tom followed closely behind the she-cat but grew distracted for a brief moment. When he realized she disappeared the tom soon picked up her scent and met up with her once again. He slowed to a walk when he caught sight of her looking to the sky. She did that when she was thinking and the tom knew this. It was always about her past and that somewhat saddened RiverFoot. The past was the past and he personally always hated dwelling on it. His tail waved slowly before he made his way forward. "All is okay?" he mewed to the she-cat as he went up and took a seat beside the blue-eyed leader.

Fallenstar frowned a little. Riverfoot knew her pretty well, and he had probably guessed what she was thinking about. She would need to break her habit of looking up when she got lost in thought, it tended to give away too much about who she was. She trusted Riverfoot and even considered him her friend because they had known each other a long time, but she didn't like to depend on others. Being a leader, she supposed that would have to change; starting now. "Of course. I was just remembering Lilywhisper. But that's all well and past, so let's try to focus. I think we should go for rabbits, and maybe a bird or two. What about you?" She would also need to break her habit of asking what other thought, hers would be the final decision from now on, and she would have to start deciding things on her own sooner or later. It just felt sort of natural with Riverfoot.

Riverfoot gave one of his purrs of amusement. He knew the she-cat wasn't use to all the control she now has but he knew she'd get use to it. The she-cat could be a little pushy and once she got over the uncomfortableness of the new situation she'd go back to normal. His tail waved and a smile passed his lips. "Come on huntress. We need to hunt." the bluish-gray tom said before rising to his paws.
Riverfoot looked to Fallenstar and waited for her to make a move as he scented the air picking up some scents. "Rabbit would be great and a bird or two as well." the tom said.

Fallenstar nodded, it would make sense to get what they could but clan code said they should only take what they needed. A couples rabbits, a mouse, and a bird or two would be more than enough if they could get it. She stood, stretched, and then began tracking the rabbit. She left the decision to Riverfoot if they were going to hunt together or separately as she began to follow the freshest scent she could get, body already low to the ground and paws silent even though the prey was not in sight yet. She loved the hunt, and sometimes started it even before it began. She slinked along happily, expecting that by the time they finished they could maybe go on border patrol or simply head back to camp to share tongues.

The gray-blue tom flicked his tail and watched as the leader of FoxClan started her hunt. He knew better than to interrupt her so he decided to go off on his own. He searched for the freshest scent in the opposite direction of the way FallenStar had gone.

His tail whipped back and forth as he followed the scent closely until he picked up the strongest scent. He lifted his head and looked towards the brush that was moving more than normal. He figured a rabbit was hiding in the bushes which meant the tom would have to chase the rabbit out.

A little closer... A little closer... There! The rabbit was black, and Fallenstar smiled as she closed in swiftly but quietly. She knew better than to rush her prey, and when it look up or stopped chewing, she paused her progress until it went back to eating whatever it was rabbits ate. She was only a few feet away, which was close even for her. Timing was everything, and she waited until the rabbit was fully occupied... Then sped from the bushes she had been hidden in like a small furry bullet, ending her prey quickly and efficiently. She sent up silent thanks to Starclan for the prey, buried the rabbit, and then proceeded to hunt more.

After a couple of hours her cache had been almost filled, and though she had missed a few chances at prey she was pretty happy. This would last the clan for at least a few days, and if Riverfoot was as fortunate as she was his addition could made it almost a week's worth. It was nearly sun-high, and she was content she had all she needed. She sat and began to clean her paws, which were happily sore after a few productive hours of hunting. She laid down once she was finished, purring contently as the late morning sun warmed her fur. She waited for Riverfoot to find her after she moved to the shade of a tree with her prey. Her tail flicked to and fro as she played with the shadows and dappled light. She didn't actually play all the often, but it seemed today was turning out to be an exception.

The tom was successful in the capture of the rabbit hidden in the brush. Once it was buried and hidden Riverfoot set out in search of more prey. His tail whipped out behind him as he had caught the scent of a magpie. One of his favorites. The blue male grunted and quickly found where it resided. It pecked at the ground intently which gave the tom enough time to close the distance, swipe his paw and take the life of the innocent. He thanked Starclan. After some time with little luck Riverfoot made his way back towards FallenStar with his kills dangling from his mouth.

When he caught sight of the multi-colored she-cat he trotted up to her, dropped the kills and slid back onto his haunches. "I hope you did better than I." he said before lifting each paw to give his nails a thorough cleaning from his hunt.

"It doesn't matter who did better, only that we have both provided for out clan." Fallenstar reminded him, then smiled. "We should go back to camp and put this in the freshkill pile. We can share tongues and talk about whatever suits us." The she-cat said, getting up and stretching. She looked up to see that it was now officially noon; today was a good day so far, and her mood had gone from good to great. She looked at Riverfoot and wondered if he had enjoyed their hunt as much as she had, looking at his prey. "We have more than enough prey when we combine our piles, so we won't have to hunt out of need for a few days." She commented, a little impressed that they had been able to catch so much prey between them. She reminded herself not to become over-confident; Starclan didn't like it when you gloated about what had been provided.

The tom smiled and gave a dip of his head to the leading she-cat. "Of course, let's head back now." he said as he felt the stinging pain of hunger in the pit of his stomach. He grabbed the prey he had caught and grabbed anything the she-cat needed help with before making his way back towards the FoxClan fresh-kill pile. He had a prance to his step much like the one he always had when in a good mood. Riverfoot enjoyed days like these and he enjoyed the company of the she-cat.

Fallenstar grinned and the picked up what was left of the prey, and then turned to head back to camp. She glanced up briefly to send another thanks to starclan for their fortune, then she was off. She was very hungry, because she had needed to fast before her visit to moonpool the night before. She would enjoy sharing tongues with Riverfoot, and she was pretty sure he would too.

(This thread is officially 'finished'. If the cats decide to go hunting again, a new thread should be made. I plan on having one made 'Hunting Patrol' made when there are more cats in the clan to keep a regular thread open, but until then we'll just make new threads when there are hunts.)
