| Warrior Cat Name Guide. The prefix of a name is the most important part of a Clan cat's name, as it is the part that they will keep throughout their life (unless in the rare occurrence it changes). This name is usually given to a cat at birth by their parents. It will usually have some sort of meaning, whether after something important or just after the cats pelt color. The prefix can be colors, patterns, animals, plants, weather, nature, something that describes the cats personality or appearance; Ex: Blue, Crooked, Fish, Tadpole, Hawk. The Suffix of a Clan cat's name is changed several times throughout it's life depending on their role in the Clan.Kits-Kit Apprentices-Paw Leader-Star Once an Apprentice becomes a Warrior, or a full Medicine Cat, they are given their new Warrior or Medicine Cat name. Unlike the other ranks in the Clan, these names do not have a generic suffix, but rather get a new suffix chosen by either the Clan Leader if a Warrior, or their mentor if a Medicine Cat.
Similar to the prefixes, the suffix may have some meaning to it, such as if a cat has shown bravery, a common example would be to give them the suffix 'heart'. However in most cases the chosen suffix will be somewhat random and chosen to match the prefix they were given at birth.Ex: -Fur, -Tail, -Pelt, -Feather. (can be based on patterns, animals, anatomy, nature, and even actions) Now for loner, rogue, or kittypet(house cat) names; They are generally a 'single name' meaning their is no suffix to it. Ex: Beauty, Princess, Rusty, Purdy. (usually are names two-leggeds(humans) come up with, therefore the words are 'unknown' to the warrior cats) | |
